Kobi's Eulogy

Mom,

The 7 years of fighting cancer got me prepared to the thought that even you, the storngest person I know, is mortal. But nothing prepared me for how much I already miss you.

I remember you telling me that in 1st grade the teacher would call me “kobi לא פייר” - Kobi it’s not fair” - Although growing up I have learned to deal with the often unfairness of this world, I can never be convinced that how you ended you years was a fair outcome for someone who spent so many years of giving. I’m not sure if you even had a short time to enjoy your retierment before cancer hit. You bravely fought it off, but it hit again and again. And with a weak immune system you were in many days confined to home even before these terrible covid days.

And in this last round you couldn’t take it anymore.

I remember the moment you said after the emergency incident with your heart, with tears in your eyes “they should have let me go”,. For me hearing this from you, the eternal fighters was heartbreaking. But you definitely deserved to give up the fight and stop suffering.

I’m so grateful and happy that you got up on your feet for one last round this February to be in Ben’s bar Mitzvah, and enjoy some time with Mark and Ilane. I will never forget the excitement of seeing you walk in slowly to the synagog and seeing your teary eyed face watching from on top.

You have lived a full life, full of energy, persistence and giving. It’s not by chance you were the first women since golda mair to head a department in the jewish agency. You have always been a role model to me and many people. “Don’t let the turkeys get you” I keep remembering you saying in the back of my head when anything gets tough at school, work or any other place. I only hope I can touch a fraction of the lives you have, always caring, with class, good tempare. Real nobleness.

It doesn’t take a long time for people to figure out you were made out of different material, even the nurses in your last days at the hospital quickly grow to love you. איזו אישה מיוחדת ממש אצילית - What a special women a real nobel person, they told me.
